SUMMARY: When Erin’s monster comes stomping, stomping and starts destroying her room, Erin is too afraid to speak. But when it becomes too much, Erin finds the courage to say something. She discovers that by talking to her monster she can change him. Eventually she has turned him into a very silly and funny monster who is not scary at all. A story about controlling your imagination and facing fears.

EXTRACT:

Erin took a brave breath.
‘EXCUSE ME!’ she yelled.
Monster stopped mid-rip.
‘Excuse me Monster,’ said Erin, ‘but you can’t just go around throwing toys and clothes and ripping up drawings.’
‘But I’m angry!’ said monster.
‘Why are you angry?’
‘My brother took my favourite hat, the one with horns,’ said Monster.
‘You can borrow my favourite hat if you like,’ said Erin.
